Find me on:

Part of what makes Sullivan such a unique place is our people, so we'd like to introduce you to some of them in a series of posts. We asked associates around the firm why they chose Sullivan and what their experiences have been like since joining us.

trilla-bwElke Trilla is an Associate in the Corporate Department of Sullivan's Boston office.

Elke's practice focuses on corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, venture capital transactions, restructurings, recapitalizations and ongoing corporate governance matters. She advises both domestic and international clients, including public companies, private equity groups, investors, established and startup companies across a variety of industries and geographic footprints.

Why did you choose Sullivan?

I chose Sullivan because in addition to its reputation for sophisticated transactional work, I was struck by the collegial environment and the entrepreneurial opportunities for attorneys. Sullivan’s leadership is supportive of initiatives raised by attorneys of all levels whether it is related to new client opportunities, pro-bono matters, diversity and inclusion initiatives, or civic engagement.

Has your experience been what you expected?

My experience at Sullivan has largely been in the COVID world. I joined Sullivan a short time before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Soon thereafter, the entire office transitioned to working remotely. Even though I was very new to the firm and working remotely, leadership made every effort to integrate me into new and existing transaction teams, staff me on sophisticated transactions and facilitate my ability to work closely with partners firmwide. I was very impressed and relieved by the response and support offered by Sullivan’s leadership team during such trying times.

What makes Sullivan different from other firms?

Sullivan’s size allows for one-on-one training opportunities with a personal and tailored feel. It’s the perfect size to allow associates to take ownership of their work and responsibility early on in their career and build my book of business. The firm’s global footprint and expertise allows for broad offerings for clients and unique domestic and cross-border transactional opportunities for associates.

What have you been working on lately?

Even during a global pandemic, transactional work has remained busy as clients are still looking for expansion and growth opportunities. Recently, my practice has been focused on various transactions including sell-side mergers and acquisitions, startup company work, general corporate advising, restructurings, Opportunity Zone fund formation and related investments in various Opportunity Zone companies.
