Responsible Art Market Initiative—Annual Conference January 25, 2024 in Geneva

Posted by Nicholas O'Donnell on January 16, 2024 at 10:51 AM

The Responsible Art Market Initiative will hold its annual conference next week in Geneva on January 25, 2024 (Thursday) at the art fair artgenève. RAM, which has increasingly been recognized as an industry leader in best practices in the art market, will present a keynote speaker and two discussion panels (one of which I will chair). The program and registration are available here.

After introductory remarks by Anne Laure Bandle of Borel & Barbey, Anthony Meyer of Galerie Meyer Oceanic & Eskimo Art in Paris will deliver the keynote address.

Next, I will moderate a panel of experts to discuss the current antiquities market. We will present and analyze some updated guidance to the RAM Due Diligence toolkit to address the antiquities market specifically.

The final panel of the day will discuss artificial intelligence (AI) and at. Few topics are as salient today as AI.

RAM’s events are always a unique opportunity to gather with art market participants from many sectors of the market. I look forward to seeing you in Geneva!

Save the Date! The Responsible Art Market Initiative Comes to New York March 2, 2023

Posted by Nicholas O'Donnell on February 3, 2023 at 2:13 PM

On the heels of another successful annual conference in Geneva last week, I am very pleased to announce that the Responsible Art Market Initiative will be hosting its first New York Chapter event on Thursday morning, March 2, 2023 at Phillips Auctioneers on Park Avenue. Registration will be opened soon, but two panels will discuss sustainability issues in the market, and the ever-changing challenges and opportunities presented by NFTs. We are grateful to Phillips for welcoming us to their beautiful space, where we will have a chance after the event to see the art on view for auction. Join us for RAM's unique blend of real-world art market practitioners and experts, and a chance to get together.

So, please block off your calendars and look for registration soon!

Virtual Fever, the New Pandemic? Trends in International Property, Art, Space, and Technology Law in Berlin October 11-12

Posted by Nicholas O'Donnell on September 21, 2021 at 11:25 AM

There’s just no other way to say it: the last 18 months have been extraordinarily hard. Professionally, what I have missed the most is the chance to connect with, and learn from colleagues, particularly those far away. It is therefore with great excitement and pride that I can announce that the International Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section will hold a live, in-person conference next month on trends in IP law. As my second year as co-chair of the Art, Cultural Institutions and Heritage Law Committee winds down, I am so pleased that we will be contributing a panel to this terrific event about, what else, Non-Fungible Tokens. As anyone who has watched my LinkedIn feed this past summer will know, Berlin holds a very special place in my life and so I look forward to making my first trip overseas in a very long time to a city that is like a second home.

The program, to which the several committees organized, is below and registration is open.

Bis zum nächsten Mal in Berlin!
